My Work Experience

I am Sanjay Choubey,I have been working in Oil and Gas Industry for more than 15 years. So i guess it's time for me to show my knowledge about this Industry.

Furthermore, I decided to establish SCOC Offshore Consultant. This consultant is established as the realization of my passion in Oil and Gas Industry, especially in Offshore works.

As 15 years working in the field of Onshore and Offshore, for me,it becomes my daily dose. And now i realize that i can't live without it anymore.

I began my work in 1992 with Ragmet Engineers by doing various shutdown job of Ragmet Engineers, Bharat Petroleum Corporation,Indian Petrochemicals Ltd, etc. My first job was also dealing with Mechanical included Plant Piping, Fabrication, and Erection of Heavy Equipment and Vessel. For me, that job was my first foundation to begin my journey in knowing about Oil and Gas Industry more.

2 years in Ragmet, I joined Punj Lloyd Ltd.That time the company was not as big as right now. In Punj Lloyd i was designated as Construction Engineer doing Mainline Welding, Tie-Ins and Fabrication of 22" valve and Mechanical Construction of 4 Distribution Stations. That was done for the Indian Oil Project.

After 2 years working in India, I was stationed in Malaysia for 16” x 128 Kms Gas Pipelines from Malaka Refinery to KL International Airport. In this project, I was dealing with All type of Mechanical and Construction work of Gas Processing Plant.

I moved back to India in 1998 as Punj Lloyd put me as Planning Manager for 18” x 75 Kms Hazira to Ankaleshwar Gas Pipeline Project. After my succes in executing this job right on schedule, Punj Lloyd sent me to Beani Bazar – Kailashtilla Pipeline Project in Dhaka- Bangladesh, there i was already Deputy Manager of the Project. From Bangladesh, I came back to New Delhi for doing Jamnagar-Loni Pipeline Project and Hyderabad-Vijayawada pipeline Project.

In the later project i was doing Estimating and Costing of the project. Looking after estimation for the Hyderabad-Vijayawada Pipeline 12” x 111 Kms, 16” x 111 Kms. Attending Site Survey, Floating all inquires to vendors, Making all technical Documents, Preparation of MTOs and Costing of the project with chief costing Manager.

Then in 2000,still with Punj Lloyd, I was designated as Onshore Construction Manager for Mangalore – Bangalore Pipeline Project, looking after the Construction of Onshore 22” & 26” Gas Pipelines. Working as Construction Manager for Spread I, Mangalore. This includes finalization of Contract with Client, Finalization of Sub Contractor for trenching, OFC laying, Civil contractor for constructing pump station, Blasting contractor, contractor for camp construction etc. Hiring of all the equipments from vendors, attending daily meeting / weekly meeting with client. Checking all the construction procedures, making construction plans and involved with project manager for finalization of manpower, answering all the letters of client.

After few years working in India, I was sent to Indonesia in 2002 for Panaran - Pemping Extension Pipeline Project, acted as Construction Manager. In August 2003,I worked for Upheaval Buckling Project of PT. Komaritim (later Acergy)and Total E & P Indonesie. I was also doing the Tunu Phase 9 of Total E&P Indonesie as Construction Manager - Offshore Pipeline, post trenching and hook ups. This was my start up of Offshore Work.

Then in September 2004, I decided to left Punj Lloyd and joined Stolt Offshore (PT. Komaritim). I was Offshore Senior Project Engineer for Betara Complex Development Project Phase – III in South Sumatra of PetroChina. In this job I was coordinating with Client and Construction Group for Day to Day site works (Laying of 10”, 8” and 6” X 10.5 km each, Push Pull of 1500 m of all three pipelines, Tie-ins with HDD section, Post Trenching and Pre commissioning in Shallow water and 30 meter depth of water).

In April 2005,I joined Global Industries Thailand. I was executing SK # 2 Buoy Relocation Project in South Korea and Senzhen-China,Panyu/Huizhou Gas Development Project.Working as Sr. Project Engineer for Installation of 12 inch X 1.4 km Pipeline, 20 inch X 347 KM pipeline, Sub Sea Skid / Spool Installation, Riser Installation and Pre Commissioning.

From China, I moved to Jakarta and worked for Nippon Steel but they later sent me to Singapore. The Project I did was PECIKO Field Development of Total E & P Indonesie,NewField PM 323 Malaysi and Kerisi Develpoment Project of Conoco Phillips Indonesia.

Later,I joined Saipem Singapore in 2006 as Offshore Construction Superintendent for PTT-TTM Project Thailand. Here i was doing Subsea installation of 42" 70 meter riser by Upending and 110 meter 42" spool installation by DSV, then, in 2007 i was transferred to Jakarta for repair of Clad Pipeline. The client was BP. In Clad Pipeline Repair Project, i was taking care of 15 nos of Subcontractor for rocking removal, Subsea pipeline cutting and removing with DWC, Diving contractor, Pre-Commissioning, etc.

For me, Tangguh Project of BP was tough yet challenging. To reach the area, I had to fly three different flights, take Speed boat then followed by car. Other than that, the sea condition was worst with current speed 3 to 4 knot.It took lots of energy to execute the job, there were lots of problems in the completion but i was happy to hear that after i left Saipem, the project was also completed.

And now, I am working in SWG Offshore International as Senior Project Engineer mainly doing the proposal works. But I really love Offshore works more than anything, so I want to use this Consultant to express my passion in Offshore works.

Regards,

Sanjay Choubey
